Fall is my absolute favorite season, and no, the coincidence of my name being Autumn isn’t lost on me. But perhaps it was fate! Of course, not everyone shares my enthusiasm for this lovely, fleeting season. In fact, my best friend recently told me that she hates fall because it makes her feel melancholy and sad.

I understand that it’s like this for many Spring/Summer-minded people. So, that’s why I’m here to share some music that may lift your spirits and comfort you during this transition into the colder months. Here are 7 songs to make fall worth vibing to.

“DAUM” by Heize

Heize is a Korean solo artist whose specialty lies somewhere between R&B and Pop. I love her unique tone of voice and it shines in “DAUM.” The song immediately starts with a bubbly xylophone melody to lift you up out of that funk and get you boppin’ along. I’d highly recommend the rest of her EP Late Autumn if you like her soft vocals and subtle vibe.

“Hands Up” by Blood Orange

Blood Orange is famous for his fantastic instrumentals, and his talent comes through in this track as well. A soft drum beat accompanied by his feather-light vocals makes for a smooth combination that’ll send you floating like a little fall leaf.

“She” by JANNABI

JANNABI is a Korean indie band that takes a more retro approach to their sound. “She” starts off with the lead singer, Junghoon’s sleepy, honeyed tone that will instantly calm a frigid listener. This is the perfect track to imagine a romance movie scene to — just saying.

“BS” by Still Woozy

A concise beat backs up Still Woozy’s “in the pocket” talk-singing on this short n’ sweet track. Something about his voice is subdued yet addictive, and it sticks like a candied apple to your teeth. You’ll be humming the catchy chorus all day for sure.

“Tennis Court” by Lorde

This track (and entirety of Pure Heroine) floods my heart with nostalgia for my fall of 2013. It’s just a solidly dreamy track that gives you that very specific feeling of walking to the school bus on a crisp morning. If you wanna be one of the cool kids, give this one a listen.

“good guys” by LANY

A synth-y pop track is one of my weaknesses, and “good guys” is no exception. It’s mushy, soft-boy angst perfection and is just chilled out enough to match the fall season. Fall really brings out the hopeless romantic in me, and this song fits right in. *Break dances while yearning*

“Location Unknown” by HONNE

HONNE simply never misses. The lead singer’s deep, crunchy vocals paired with featured artist Georgia’s airy tone mirror the juxtaposition of the season perfectly. The upbeat tempo of this track is just as vibrant as the color of the changing leaves. And the romantic lyrics just make you want to cozy up to the one you love on a chilly night.
